Since the early 20th century, rodeos and parades have been integral to the Fourth of July celebrations in Cody, Wyoming. For over 100 years, the Cody Stampede Rodeo has been held every summer, with its official debut in 1919. In 2024, we celebrate the 105th anniversary of the Cody Stampede and the 89th anniversary of the Cody Nite Rodeo performances.
These two iconic events not only establish Cody as home to one of the longest-running and most successful professional rodeos in the nation, but also as the only place in the country where rodeo performances are held nightly, earning the title of **Rodeo Capital of the World**. The Cody Stampede was named **"Best Large Outdoor Rodeo of the Year"** by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association in 1998 and 1999, and was ranked among the **Top 5 Large Outdoor Rodeos** in 2020. Additionally, the Cody Nite Rodeo earned a nomination for **"Best Small Outdoor Rodeo of the Year"** in 2001.
Year after year, Cody demonstrates its unwavering commitment to rodeo, offering thrilling performances throughout the summer and solidifying our reputation as the heart of rodeo excellence.
