The roaring twenties were good years for cowgirls. They competed against their male counterparts in many events. During the 20's and 30's the events open to ladies at the Buffalo Bill Cody Stampede were: ladies relay, cowgirl race, free-for-all, women's race, and boy's and girl's race. Since the heyday of the 1920's many women's events have been lost. The only rodeo event for women is barrel racing. It tests the skill and horsemanship of its contestants. Time starts when the contestant crosses the line and ends when she finishes the cloverleaf pattern around the three barrels and returns over the line. http://www.codystampederodeo.com/tickets.cfm
